The Short Story
About Me

Growing up, I was the kid who always wanted to be involved in whatever was going on. I joined nearly every team and group at school because I wanted to be where everyone else was — I craved connection.

After finishing school and starting out in a completely different career than the one I have now, I found myself feeling unfulfilled. I was working in biomedical research engineering, and although creating better health outcomes was meaningful, I struggled with being part of large corporations. Eventually, I decided to make the transition to a career in human connection and pursued a program to study social work.

Education and experience

I graduated from the Master of Social Work program at Colorado State University in 2012. Since then, I have worked in various mental health professional roles providing services in youth treatment, addiction treatment, at a women’s shelter, and providing home-based therapy for youth and families.

Most recently, I was part of a group private practice for 6 years before opening my own practice in 2025.

Specialty

My own journey of personal growth and therapy work inspired me to learn about and pursue a specialization in treating trauma. I am a certified EMDR therapist with training in advanced EMDR application, treating Complex PTSD and dissociative tendencies, somatic embodiment, and Applied Polyvagal Theory for trauma.

These and other educational opportunities have guided me in being able to offer integrative, holistic, and evidence-based treatment for your mind, body, heart, and spirit.

How I show up in the world

I am open about my beliefs and values so that you can be informed in choosing a therapist to work with. The way I approach my work as a therapist is from a relational, human-centered, and resilience perspective. This means my focus is on authentic connection within the relationship, the client being the expert in their life, and the belief that everyone holds the potential to heal and grow.

Also very important to me is practicing cultural humility and social consciousness. I see myself as a life-long learner, continually reflecting on my own biases and judgements while building greater understanding of others’ lived experiences. I care deeply about working for social justice and the importance of human rights and dignity for all people; including equitable access to resources.

I try to stay mindful of power and privilege, knowing that the forces that shape our social world inevitably shape our mental health. As a cisgender white woman with class privilege, I hold this awareness as part of how I structure my tiered payment model for the services I offer.

Outside of my work as a therapist (which I happen to think is the best job in the world), I greatly enjoy getting involved in advocacy work in the community. I also love to travel and explore, spend time with friends, family, and my fur-children, take walks and marvel at trees, or simply sit on the porch and watch the birds.

"The goal of trauma treatment is not simply to process memories or remove symptoms. It is to restore nervous system flexibility; the capacity to move fluidly between states of activation and rest."
