FAQs

How do I get started?

Just reach out! Feel free to contact me via the Contact page, email, or phone to let me know what you are looking for. We’ll find a time for a brief phone call so I can share what I’m able to offer and see if that fits with your needs.

If I’m not a good fit or not able to get you started in the timeframe you are looking for, I’ll try to guide you toward other options available.

What ages do you see?

Ages 16 and older.

How long are sessions?

Typical sessions are about 55 minutes. Sometimes longer sessions are arranged if a need presents itself and it supports your therapy progression.

Do you offer telehealth sessions?

Yes! I’m able to offer video telehealth sessions yet I often encourage clients to consider in-person sessions if that is accessible for you.

This is because being in person offers our nervous systems more information about each other and, therefore, is likely to build trust faster and more effectively.

How much do sessions cost?

I use a tiered fee structure as a guide in determining a monetary exchange for therapy services. This model is one way I strive to support social and economic justice by making my practice more inclusive and community-oriented. Those with greater financial resources pay at a higher rate, while those with fewer resources pay a lower rate. In addition to income, I encourage consideration of other social and economic factors that can affect financial flexibility and access to care.

If you are able to pay more, you are not only paying for the services you receive—you are also helping make therapy more accessible for others in the community. If the full fee is not affordable for you, I invite you to let me know. I can share a guide with suggested considerations to help determine a rate that feels appropriate based on your unique circumstances. I do not ask for financial documentation or details about your situation. Instead, I trust that you know your circumstances best, and we can work together to find a rate feels right for you based on this model.

The payment tiers for a regular 55-minute session range from $35 to $150. The full rate for an intake session (only the first session) is $175.

Do you take insurance?

No, I am not in network with any insurance companies; therefore, I am not able to submit claims directly to your insurance on your behalf. The full payment for a therapy session is made at the time of service.

There are advantages and disadvantages to consider in using health insurance coverage. Health insurance companies require you to have a psychiatric diagnosis to receive treatment. Once you have a diagnosis listed in your health record, there is the potential it could be used against you at any point in your life, such as disqualifying you from joining the military, or obtaining certain kinds of health or life insurance. Using health insurance coverage also increases the risk of the loss of privacy of your health information.

You may be eligible for reimbursement from your insurance provider for out-of-network mental health services, depending on your plan’s coverage. I encourage you to contact your insurance company to confirm your benefits and understand the reimbursement process. If you would like to find out from your insurance company what the reimbursement amount would be for out-of-network benefits, you can reference CPT/billing code: 90837.

Do you take HSA/HRA/FSA funds?

Yes, if you have a health savings or flexible spending or similar type of account and it covers mental health services, then I can charge your account for your sessions.

What is your cancellation policy?
What is your cancellation policy?

I ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice, whenever possible, if you need to change or cancel your appointment. This allows me the opportunity to offer the open time to another client who may be wanting to schedule for that week. There is a cancellation fee applied if it’s within 24 hours of your appointment and not due to an emergency or illness.
